Paris Holiday - Day 1

Continue from our Day 3 in London.

Now we travel to Paris.

On the fourth day of our holiday, we went to Paris France, using the train Eurostar.  We booked the train online a few days ago from home and all we need to do was to check in with our printed tickets and boarded the train.  It cost us around 500 pounds for a return tickets to London.

We cant wait to see Paris!  The train would take off at around 9.30am and will reach Paris around 11.30 Paris time.  We were excited today although by now I didnt feel too good, feeling a bit feverish and nauseated but who cares!  We will go to Paris baby!!!!

We then checked out of our hotel in London, got a taxi with our luggages and driven to St Pancras Station in London, this is where Eurostar stationed that will take us to France soon.  The station was so pretty, very ancient and I was very impressed how this old building could be preserved like that..

Lots of people here making their trip to Paris

Us on the train
We arrived in Paris, the train stopped at Paris Du Nord Station, right in the city centre.  Wow.. alot of people here and I anticipated from what we read, Parisians dont really speak English and most signboards were in French,

We were kind of nervous about that.  So hubby and I tried to learn a few french words just in case and we knew that its common sense and courtesy to greet people in their own language before asking for anything.  Make sense right???

Anyway, once we offboard the train, we quickly went to look for taxi with our heavy luggages and joined the queue.  Its so cold in Paris but the day was sunny and bright so we were happy about that.

Arrived in Paris

Paris Du Nord Station
The hotel we were gonna stayed in was a bit far from the station, its on the other side of River Siene, and as I said earlier, very near to the Eiffel Tower.  So... remember that, Eiffel Tower is not in the city centre!  Traffic jam was very bad in Paris, the cars and taxis just over ran each other and it seemed they didnt follow any rules!  Even some of the roads didn have lines on them.  Very scary.

But the thing is, its Paris baby!!  Ignore my excitement, I just couldnt contain myself, Paris is one of my dream destination hehehe.

And the best thing about Paris is the buildings!  There were rows and rows of antique, old but beautiful buildings all along the city.  They were really unique and so full of characters.  I love them all.  We didnt seem to see modern buildings very much, most of them were like the pictures below.  So pretty!

Traffic Jam

You gotta love Paris, look at those buildings!

Most buildings are like this!
We arrived at our hotel, checked in and showed to our room by a very friendly and nice French butler.  We didnt know Parisian was very friendly and helpful and we were glad to know that.  And the room was so exquisite.  I like the room so much, please look at it below, do you agree with me??

And as I said, it was really next to the Eiffel Tower and we could see it clearly from the lobby of the hotel.  We also found out that the hotel was still in the process of renovation.  Some of the rooms were like this but some havent finished yet so we were lucky to have a brand new room to stay in for the next 3 days.

Our hotel in Paris, isnt it lovely?

This room matches our daughter favourite colour - purple!

Sofa bed

Very comfy although it looks like a hospital bed now, lol

View from our room, too bad we coulndt see the tower, but its ok.
Since I was feeling a bit blah, we decided to rest for a few minutes before we explored the area.  At about 3pm we ventured out of our hotel and stepped into the hotel compound and right away saw the Eiffel Tower. Its so magnificent and we couldnt wait to go and explore it properly.

At the front of the hotel, Eiffel Tower in full view

Thank you hubby for picking up this hotel, its so fab!

Picture taken while we were on our way to the tower, about 2 minutes walk only from our hotel

This girl asking for donation, we gave 10 Euro but there were lots of them actually at the tower, and they kept on asking for more!

Arrived at the tower, people behind us were queueing to go up the tower where they could see the city.  Always long queue so we didnt go.

I like this picture so much.  A group of people did like this so we follow lah.

The best experience ever!

Memorable picture

On the other side of Eiffel Tower where most tourists came from the city.  They were crossing the road to the Eiffel Tower
After strolling for a while, we decided to join the river cruise.  This cruise will take us along the River Seine in a boat and it only cost 12 Euro per person.  River Seine was very famous, its a major river in Paris that splits between the east and west bank.  And along this river, we could see a number of bridges, some really beautiful and many centuries old.  And this river also gives Paris its geographical divisions and thats how the city was recognised and distinguished.

The cruise took about 1 hour and by the time we were done, the day was already over and its getting dark and its only around 5pm.  Then we strolled around for another hour before we called it a day.  It was really fabulous.

Cant resist to buy souvenirs

Cant resist to take pictures with the tower again

I like this picture of Ayang

The weather by now was already very cold so we decided to call it a day for today.  Its been fabulous experience to see Paris and Eiffel Tower today.  We enjoyed the day and we were happy with the hotel so I think we were doing really ok :)

On our way back, Ayang with the bicycle for hire at the tower
