Singapore Day 3

Day 3 is full of visiting and walking.  First off, as usual we are having breakfast at our usual place and after breakfast off we went to our first destination - Singapore Museum!  This is our daughter favourite place to visit.  Museum is always on our agenda wherever we go.  There are in fact 4 museums in Singapore but we chose the biggest and the oldest one, thats the National Museum of Singapore.  It is a big place and it took us a few hours to explore only part of the museum.

As usual, our mode of transportation is the MRT.

My mom holding for dear life! hehe

Upon reaching the museum, we stumbled across this statue which seemed to be so popular amongst us as everyone wanted to take picture with it.

My bro!

We walked for a long time before getting to this building.  It seemed we were confused of its exact location.  Its not easy reading from a map, I tell you.  And its even worst when we asked people they kept on directing to an opposite direction.  And once we reached the destination everyone was already worn out although still in good spirit, hehe.

This is the National Museum of Singapore

At one of the main exhibitions.

The main exhibitions that attracted alot of people was the Pompeii exhibition.  Pompeii is an ancient city of southern Italy southeast of Naples. Founded in the sixth or early fifth century B.C., it was a Roman colony by 80 B.C. and became a prosperous port and resort with many noted villas, temples, theaters, and baths. Pompeii was destroyed by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79.  Very sad.  And this exhibition portrays just that, how people died during the eruption and also showed their way of life in ancient times.  We could see the incredibly well-preserved ruins including some human bodies which were rediscovered in 1748 and have been extensively excavated.

Some of the preserve bodies, I dont know if this is fake or real.

One of the statue found in the ruin, my mom was really amazed!

We enjoyed looking at their way of life a long time ago.

Hubby looking at the exhibitions

There was a room in the Pompeii exhibition area where we could sit and read some of the history books about Pompeii.

And for the kids and teenagers there was an area where they could play with the cut out designs of the Roman headgears, like these two.

Some of the jewellery used by the Roman and found.

Its a big and spacious museum

Need lots of sitting down!

What are they reading?

On another part of the museum, there was one area called Presidential Presents where the museum keep all the gifts given from leaders around the world to all the President of Singapore.  Very interesting to see!
